Frequently asked questions
What is ReachWell?
ReachWell is a free, searchable directory of everyday adaptive and mobility aids for the home, such as grab bars, reachers, shower chairs, sock aids and jar openers. Items are organized by need (bathroom, kitchen, dressing, mobility, reaching and grabbing, bedroom) and by rough budget, for readers in Canada and the US.
Who makes ReachWell?
ReachWell is built by someone living with limited mobility since 2025. Entries describe common product types and real, currently sold products in plain language.
Does ReachWell list prices, ratings or reviews?
ReachWell does not invent prices, ratings or reviews. Every item has a rough budget label, and named products show an approximate typical price range seen at major retailers (researched October 2026). Prices change often, so check current prices with retailers.
Is this medical advice?
No. ReachWell is general information. An occupational therapist or physiotherapist can assess your needs and help you choose and fit equipment safely.
What are the most useful low-cost aids to start with?
Common low-cost starting points include a reacher grabber, a long-handled shoe horn, a sock aid, a raised toilet seat, a shower chair, a non-slip bath mat and motion-sensor night lights.
Does ReachWell earn money from links?
Currently links are plain store search links and earn nothing. Some may become clearly labelled affiliate links later. Sponsored placements, if any, are always labelled.
Can I reuse ReachWell's data?
Yes. The full directory is published as JSON at /items.json, and a summary for AI assistants is at /llms.txt. Please link back to ReachWell when citing it.
